A New Englander by birth, Eliza Hafer ventured out to California in search of fertile ground. While attending college in the late 60's, she majored in art as well as anthropology receiving her BA from UC Berkeley. Subsequently working in a cultural center as an illustrator and graphic designer, Eliza also created a multicultural puppet theater. Her sense of adventure and desire to capture the moment led to travels in which she earned a living drawing people in public places. |
In the eighties she began to explore inner imagery through art therapy classes and Jungian dreamwork. Intuitive painting became her passion. What it means to be human has continued to be the major theme in her work. Eliza lives in Asheville and has sold her paintings nationally in galleries and at art fairs. |
